The issue: According to the World Health Organization, every year over 20,000 farmers die and millions more suffer chronic diseases caused by pesticide poisoning. One of the worst of these pesticides is endosulfan which, banned in over 60 countries, Bayer Crop Science, still distributed to some of the world’s poorest farmers.

The Actions: For the first time, we decided to strike out and launch our own campaign this time with a corporate target. Working closely with the thousands of farmers and factory workers in India we support, and the global Pesticide Action Network, we launched a campaign against Bayer Crop Science to get them to pull the pestiocide endosulfan from the market. On our 4th birthday we staged another pant flash at the Royal Exchange to launch a global bad pants amnesty around the world! Thousands of people across 16 countries mobilised to support our campaign and they sent hundreds of their worst pairs of pants to Bayer with our campaign demands attached.

The result: Within 1 week of launching the campaign, Bayer Crop Science responded to the hundreds of pairs of bad pants sent to them around the world, by committing to a timetable to pull endosulfan from the market paving the way for a global ban of this vile killer.
