On 7th July we launched a totally new campaigning technique and within a week, we achieved our goal! So, it’s time to celebrate with a big thankyou discount!
We targeted BAYER CROP SCIENCES calling on them to stop producing endosulfan, the vile pesticide that is banned in Europe but still sold by them into poor countries. After a mobilization that saw farmers, factory workers and consumers across 16 countries send their worst pair of pants to their local BAYER office, we received a letter from them agreeing to our demands. They said, “We plan to stop the sale of the substance endosulfan by the end of 2010 in all the countries where it is still legally available.” GREAT NEWS and an amazing start.
Getting BAYER to change is just the beginning though as now we need to prove an exciting business case for a new organic and fairtrade future for the farmers who will stop using endosulfan. Farmers can up to triple their income, industry can profit from making organic pesticides and fertilizers, governments can see more jobs created in rural communities with greater environmental protection and consumers will receive better clothes that will cost only 20p more than normal!
The future of fashion is going to be a beautiful place but we need to work together to get there. To kick start this new phase we want to thank you all for your support by offering at least 20% off all our pants until 2 August! So get your pants now!!
Panteater in the Park: Panteater sightings have been reported across London town. On Sunday 5th July we set up information points to warn people about these terrifying creatures and to teach them about the effects of pesticides and the merits of good pants. People were seen photographing the attack sites waiting for a glimpse of the mysterious Panteater and there were even reports of growls comings from the bushes, as well as the remains of half eaten, pesticide ridden pants…
It’s been four years now since Make Poverty History (that means we’re four years old!! wahey!). So it’s about time that we put into place an exciting, new, utterly unique campaign, moving right from grain to groin…. something never been done before!
Yes, OK, we’re excited, and a little bleary eyed… this is going to be truly pantastic… Check it all out here, you wont regret it!
On thursday, we’re launching something totally new into the world, and then on Tuesday the 7th July, the global pants amnesty and a whole new campaign!
